“Whether it’s coworkers, trade partners, or homeowners, I want to leave a positive impression and be someone the team and community can trust.”

A Journey Built From the Ground Up
21 years ago, Luke Hoffman began his journey with Granite Ridge Builders with mowing the owner’s lawn. One task led to another, and soon he found himself learning every corner of the business: property management, office work, project management, and eventually, leadership. Today, Luke serves as the President of Construction, bringing decades of hands-on experience, perspective, and heart to the role.
Foundations of Leadership
Early in his career, Luke discovered two skills that would shape the way he leads: communication and education. “Clear and timely communication with trade partners, homeowners, and the team keeps projects moving forward and builds trust,” Luke says. “At the same time, continuing education is so important. Whether it’s learning new building practices, understanding codes, or staying up with industry changes. Education and communication are the difference between problems and solutions.”
The Reward in Every Home
For Luke, the most rewarding part of his job is watching a homeowner walk into their finished house for the first time knowing the space will become a space for memories. Looking back at the thousands of homes Granite Ridge has built, Luke reflects often on the impact those structures have on families and communities. “Granite Ridge is set apart by its commitment to quality, transparency, and customer care,” Luke says. “The team truly cares about the people they build for, and that shows in the craftsmanship, communication, and relationships built along the way.” Challenges like weather delays, material shortages, or tight schedules can test anyone’s patience, but for Luke, they’re opportunities: moments that sharpen creativity and strengthen problem-solving.
The Final Stage
According to Luke, the best phase of construction is the final stage. This is the stage where everything comes together and the home takes shape. What makes it worth all the hard work is watching the homeowner’s excitement grow while final touches are being put in place and they see their vision come to life. A house that really showcases this is the Next Step Home. There was a lot of uncharted territory that made the team think outside the box and be intentional, thoughtful, and creative every step of the way. “Seeing it all come together after that level of planning made the project really exciting and fulfilling,” Luke says.
Leading with Integrity
As for the future, Luke hopes his leadership leaves a positive mark. He hopes to be remembered as someone who treated people well and showed up with integrity. “Whether it’s coworkers, trade partners, or homeowners, I want to leave a positive impression and be someone the team and community can trust,” Luke said. He hopes to make his family proud by living by the values prioritized at home: respect, humility, honesty, and doing the right thing.
