"I want to be remembered as someone who worked really hard for really good people and a good cause, passed that work ethic on to others, and brought some brightness into a world that can be pretty dark."

Where It All Started
Mike Stuart has been with Granite Ridge Builders since October of 2015, and over the past decade, has learned that hard work pays off. After interviewing with Matt Schuemann, the founding father of the Property Management Team, Mike worked alongside him for seven years before taking over as Property Manager when Matt retired. If the team had a theme song it would be “I’m In A Hurry (And Don’t Know Why)” by Alabama.
Rolling With The Punches
The best part about being on the Property Management Team for Mike is how different every day is and the new challenges that come up. There’s a lot a variety in the role from mowing the yards of Granite Ridge Builders homes to helping to set up for events. The hardest part of the job is dealing with scheduling issues, but the team rolls with the punches and stays proactive. “It starts with having the right mentality as a team,” Mike says. “Knowing it’s going to be a long day and hard work. Everyone works their tails off to get the job done, goes home tired, and still comes back the next day with a good attitude."
Landscapes and Laughs
And that attitude shows. Mike and his team take pride in the behind-the-scenes work that keeps Granite Ridge running smoothly, even when it takes a physical toll. One of his proudest moments came during the build of The Monaco. While Mike was tied up helping with the project, his team stepped up, handled the rest of the workload, and didn’t miss a beat. “I want to be remembered as someone who worked really hard for really good people and a good cause, passed that work ethic on to others, and brought some brightness into a world that can be pretty dark,” Mike says
Toilets, Antlers, and Team Bonding
The Property Management Team does a slew of different jobs around the office. Mike recalls the time of the “Brown Bandit,” a series of events when someone kept clogging the toilet and Mike’s team had to keep unclogging it. In addition to all their hard work, the Property Management Team also likes to have some fun with some harmless pranks like stealing coworkers' chairs and putting toilets at their desks instead, hiding hot dogs in someone’s truck, putting Vaseline on doorhandles, and putting big moose antlers in the men’s bathroom at Choice Designs.
