Behind the Build: The Breckenridge Lodge | Framing

The Breckenridge Lodge

Granite Ridge Builders is moving full speed ahead at Simon Lake Estates, and one of the most anticipated homes in the neighborhood is starting to come to life.

The Breckenridge Lodge has officially finished the framing stage. Which means walls are going up, spaces are taking shape, and for the first time, you can start to see just how this home is going to come together.

From Paper to Reality

Up until framing, The Breckenridge Lodge has only lived on paper. The best part about framing is seeing that shift from imaging the flow to actually experiencing it.

The walls go up, the layout forms, and the rooms take shape. The home isn’t finished, but being able to actually walk-through the home for the first time is one of the most rewarding experiences.

But what most people don’t see is how much thought has already gone into the home before a single wall is even built. Framing isn’t just putting up walls, it’s planning how the entire house will function. From electrical and plumbing placement to structural support and even where things like TVs or cabinets will eventually go, a lot of those decisions are already built into the structure itself.

Built To Connect

One of the most impressive things about The Breckenridge Lodge is how it’s laid out. It’s not just one continuous building but rather two structures connected by an outdoor living space, all under one roof.

To bring that vision to life, two framing crews worked simultaneously on each side of the house, meeting in the middle to tie everything together. Coordinating that kind of build takes planning, especially when both teams are working at different speeds, but in the end, everything comes together smoothly.

Wait... There's More?

Walking through the Breckenridge Lodge during this stage is when the scale really starts to hit. Open areas feel expansive, ceiling heights become more noticeable, and you can finally see how each space connects to the next. And in a home like this, those ceiling heights are a big part of what makes it feel so open. The ceilings jump from standard heights up to 15, 17, and even 20 feet in certain areas.

One of the most surprising parts of the Breckenridge is how much there is to see. With the main home being so large, it’s easy to think you’ve seen everything. The carriage house adds another layer to the home, creating a moment where people step back and realize just how expansive the layout really is. Even the outdoor living space makes an impression at this stage, with over 1,500 sq ft and tall ceilings that make it feel just as significant as the interior spaces

At this point, the entire home starts to feel bigger than expected. It’s one thing to see it on a floor plan, but walking through it in real life gives a completely different perspective, especially in a home that spans over 12,000 square feet.

Making It Work

Framing can look a little chaotic if you’re not used to it with markings on the wood, spray paint, and temporary supports throughout the home. But all of that has a purpose. Those markings are part of the inspection and planning process, helping ensure everything matches the plans, meets code, and is ready for the next stage before anything gets covered up. It’s one of the last chances to verify that everything is exactly where it needs to be. It’s also a stage where precision really matters. Small layout errors early on can carry through the entire build, affecting everything from cabinetry to flooring and even structural alignment.

What's Next?

Right now, the Breckenridge is all structure, the outline of what’s to come.

But as the build continues, those spaces will start to take on more detail, more character, and more personality. Walls will be finished, features will come into focus, and everything that feels a little abstract right now will start to make sense.

And that’s when it really starts to feel like home.
